Finding My Purpose in LifeThe latter half of January, new year’s resolutions made or not, kept or forgotten. Thank goodness the Chinese New Year comes later in January (the 28th this year). Though I often reflect and carefully choose a resolution, this year I did not. I’m joyful to be alive. I’m hopeful for the future though I can’t know what lies ahead for

Coping with Physical Pain: A Pathway to Healing Yourself

1. September, 2016Blog Posts, Energy HealingNo comments

coping with physical painPain, whether it lasts a day or recurs indefinitely, is a friend. Of course, when we are in pain it can be hard to remember that. Nor am I a masochist; I’ve taken my share of Advil for

coping with physical pain. But, pain, physical and emotional, is guaranteed and both are a boon to self-awareness if we take advantage of them. The more we embrace life the richer it becomes even when it hurts. Read more

Your Feelings: The Relationship Between Health and Happiness

1. August, 2016Blog Posts, Energy HealingNo comments

Relationship Between Health and HappinessThe Human Energy Field includes the body, mind, and emotions. It reflects our personalities, the ways we learned to deal with disappointments and success. It holds the aspects where our energy flows full and clean and it holds the places where energy got stuck and still gets stuck in our bodies. The Human Energy field is the basis of understanding our own relationship between health and happiness.

That is what we seek: happiness and health. We want to be contented, comfortable, and healthy. We want to experience joy. How can we create greater happiness and health for ourselves and those we love in spite of unhappy, sad, and painful experiences? The answer is real self-care. But what is it to really care for yourself?

Family Constellation Healing: Uncover Hidden Family Patterns

8. September, 2015Energy HealingNo comments

family constellation healingHappily or not, we accept that our physical characteristics and the genetic strengths and weakness of our bodies are inherited. Some of this we can readily identify, “my mother’s eyes, my father’s nose, my grandfather’s high blood pressure, etc.” Some of our characteristics aren’t so easily traced. These are explained as the result of recessive genes that show only occasionally, such as red hair or mismatched eye colors.

Scientific study has focused tremendous resources on exploring DNA. DNA carries the genes that determine our basic and distinctive characteristics. What has also come to light is that about 90% of our DNA does not contain genetic material. Originally this was called ‘junk’ DNA and more recently renamed non-coding DNA.

Letting Go Of Resentment To Embrace Your Peaceful Spirit

20. August, 2015Blog Posts, Energy HealingNo comments

letting-go-of-resentmentResentment is familiar to most of us yet it is rarely discussed. It arises when we have given something of ourselves emotionally or materially and the giving feels like too much. Yet, we don’t like to admit feeling resentful. It seems selfish. I have something (time, energy, money) and someone else is in need. I want to help. I want to do the right thing. What does it say about me when I feel resentful? Even when we get angry and blow up, we don’t like to admit to this emotion.

Isn’t this the way with all of us? We want to be kind and generous. We want to ‘take the high road’. Sometimes it works out. Sometimes we are left wondering about the right or wrong of an action. And sometimes we believe we did the right thing but resent the consequences of our choice.

Gain The Upper Hand On Self Doubt and Limiting Beliefs

14. July, 2015Anxiety, Blog Posts, Energy HealingNo comments

self doubtI was 3 when I attended the birthday party of a little girl who was deaf. I tried talking to her but she didn’t notice or respond. I complained to my mother that she wasn’t a very nice girl and my mother explained the girl couldn’t hear. I didn’t believe it. I didn’t believe she couldn’t hear. After all, she had ears. I was convinced she was lying and continued trying to engage her verbally.

How to Overcome Self DoubtAnother year later I recall patiently explaining to my 2 year old sister that her doll was not a Toni Doll (the popular doll at the time) like mine, hers was just a rubber doll. When she finally got the message she screamed inconsolably. My mother was furious. When I tried to soothe my sister, my mother said, “It’s too late. You can’t fix it now.”

These seemingly minor events were significant for me. At the least they contributed to the idea I formed of myself. “I’m no good with people.” The thought and the vocabulary indicate how young I was to reach such a generalized conclusion.

Alternative Medicine: Energy Healing for Bones

21. May, 2015Blog Posts, Energy HealingNo comments

alternative medicineIt is uncommon but not rare that bone fractures do not heal. There can be many causes for this and there are conventional interventions in Western medicine. Additionally, Oriental medicine can be effective to encourage broken bones to heal.

Energy healing is an alternative practice that may also support healing bone fractures. There is not, however, much scientific research to provide evidence one way or the other.

Dr. Gloria Gronowicz, a specialist in bone cells conducted research on the effects of energy healing on bone cell growth at the University of Connecticut. Specifically, trained Therapeutic Touch practitioners were able to stimulate the growth of bone and tendon cells in lab dishes. Read more

How To Stop Judging Yourself To Better Connect With Others

20. April, 2015Blog Posts, Energy Healing, RelationshipsNo comments

how to stop judging yourselfThe inner critic with whom we all live has the black and white thinking of a child. And, like a child, is despotic and illogical. She has an opinion on everything you do or don’t and is frequently contradictory.

“You should get more sleep.” “You should get up earlier.” “You should get out more with friends.” “You are much too social.”

There is a reason for this contradictory behavior. Your inner critic is most likely a child, generally quite young, perhaps 3 to 5 years old. Children emulate their authority figures and learn to regulate themselves with internal self-direction. All of that is good as the

research will tell you. Children who master self-control early in life are more likely to be healthy, do well academically, and be financially secure later in life. This can be a great benefit in how to stop judging yourself and move in a positive direction in your life. Read more

Expand Cultural Awareness With These 6 Entertaining Books

18. March, 2015Blog Posts, Energy Healing, RelationshipsNo comments

If you love to read as I do, you are always on the lookout for books to enjoy. It is my vice that I love mysteries, especially those set in other cultures in recent times. Here are a few that made my A list each for their own reasons that may also help to expand cultural awareness. All are entertaining, eye-opening, heartwarming, and most are lighthearted. Many of them are series and when you’ve fallen in love with the protagonist you may insist on reading every one. I hope you will enjoy some of them. It is gratifying to share a good book!

  1. The Dr. Siri Paiboun Series by Colin Cotterill

6 Self Discovery Books For A Journey Towards Spiritual Growth

9. March, 2015Blog Posts, Energy Healing, Meditation, RelationshipsNo comments

self discovery booksI’ve been asked for book recommendations many times. Sometimes the book to recommend for this or that person is clear. More often, I’m stuck for a name of the author or the book. Most important, each of us is on our unique path of self-discovery and spiritual growth.

There is the tale of a man walking through a book store and, inexplicably, a volume falls from the shelf and lands at his feet. That volume proves then to be exactly the guidance he needs in the moment. I’ve had my own experience of a book that seemed to light up before my eyes as I wandered through some amazing bookstores (notably Powell’s City of Books in Portland and the Peregrine Book Company in Prescott). As recently as a few weeks ago a friend of mine recounted her similar experience of the book that ‘jumped into’ her hands.

Mindfulness

Meditation: Sandra Egli
Music: Torey Ronhovde

The wisdom of a thousand generations guides you today. Only listen. Without a sound their voices reverberate in your cells. Settle within and choose your path.

All of us come from strength, fortitude, perseverance. No matter how difficult their lives, our ancestors made it through and passed on life for the next generation. Over and over, until it came to you. The intelligence that guided them has also come to you.

To Thine own Self be true.

If I could present you with a single blessing, it would be the gift of Mindfulness. Awareness of yourself: body, emotions, and self-talk, all the time. Our immediate experience is the ultimate exploration that only grows richer with time. What we do or don't do, and the roots of our behavior, are accessible with the simple practice of noticing immediate experience. It is this practice that makes it possible to know and be true to ourselves.
