How To Let Go Of Anger To Embrace Love and Forgiveness

7. May, 2015Anger, Blog Posts, Healing ArticlesNo comments

how to forgive othersThis is the story of forgiveness, not of a major trauma, but of a small wound hidden in my psyche for many years. It came to light a couple of weeks ago. I attended a workshop on Family Constellations, a healing modality (and one I practice) for the blocks and barriers we bring with us from childhood, and especially those handed to us from prior generations of our families. Often these are not rightfully ours to suffer but it lies with us to resolve them. Read more

Are You Asking: How Do I Find My Purpose In Life?

17. February, 2015Blog Posts, Healing Articles, RelationshipsNo comments

find-my-purpose-in-life What do you believe is the purpose of your life? Are you able to put it to words? Do you believe you have one life or more to come? A 2013 online Harris poll found that 24% of respondents believe in reincarnation. An earlier poll (2005) estimated that 20% of Americans believe in reincarnation.

We can’t be certain whether we have multiple lives. For the sake of this conversation, let’s suppose that whether or not you will reincarnate, you chose the life you were born into this time around. If so, the question is, “Why did you choose these circumstances? What did you intend?”

To answer the question consider all aspects of your life: those with which you are happy and especially those aspects that cause you distress or suffering. Your list might include: I regret my divorce. I have a hard time making a living. I don’t have close friends. My brother and I are like oil and water. I don’t have children.

Consider any one of your sorrows or frustrations and ask yourself, “Why would I choose this challenge? What could I possibly learn from this?” Analyse your list as a whole. Is there a pattern in your problems?

Understanding How To Create Your Own Miracle Stories

16. December, 2014Blog Posts, Healing ArticlesNo comments

hanukkahThe guarantee of a miracle is that it brings the underlying Truth of the physical world into alignment with Divine Reality. We bring miracles about because we have the power to do so. Consciously and unconsciously we co-create our world with God.

We create miracles when our intentions are clear and focused. We create miracles out of our longing and desire. We create miracles when what we seek is in harmony with Divine Will.

Without the power we bring to the table, God does not intervene in our world and you are unlikely to experince the miracles of God.

“If you don’t believe in miracles they will never happen to you.”

Spiritual Guidance: For You, From the Universe, With Love

2. October, 2014Blog Posts, Healing Articles, MeditationNo comments

spiritual-guide-scottsdaleA friend told me how she came to quit smoking. She was leaving a restaurant, lit a cigarette, and encountered a man selling carved wooden roses. He offered to give her the bucket and all the roses if she would put her cigarette out and quit. What he was really offering was spiritual guidance from the Universe for her. This article isn’t about not smoking. It is about being in relationship with the Universe: asking for, receiving, and following Guidance.

Spiritual guidance is direction, advice, sometimes information, about decisions and choices we face. It may help resolve a dilemma. It may reveal the future or indicate future events based on our choices today. It may come to us from someone we know and trust or from a stranger. It may come to us directly without the intervention of another person.

How Does Spiritual Guidance Work?

What follows are guidelines I’ve put together from my experience to help you get a better understanding of how Spiritual Guidance can work:

Experience the Benefits of Meditation: Remove Fear & Gain Trust

9. September, 2014Healing Articles, Meditation, RelationshipsNo comments

benefits-of-meditationThere are many forms and purposes of meditation. This is the most powerful I have encountered. It will reveal yourself and your life to you. It will unlock what has held you back from happiness and enable you to fulfill your potential.

This is a reflective meditation to be practiced over time, with patience and trust. It is it not intended to take you into bliss. It calls on the higher powers of ourselves and of the universe and the first places you will enter will as likely be those of sorrow.

What holds us back from the elusive dream of reaching our full potential?

Energy Healing vs Spiritual Healing: What is the Difference?

24. July, 2014Blog Posts, Energy Healing, Healing Articles, MeditationNo comments

Energy Healing 20667386_sAs alternative therapies and medicine become more and more relied upon for men, women and children across the United States, the more questions arise. One very common question is, “When you compare energy healing vs spiritual healing, what makes them different?” I’d like to share some of the unique attributes of each.

What is Energy Healing?

The term energy healing generally refers to low frequency electro-magnetic energy that is passed from the hands of one person to another. The low frequency directly impacts the body and emotions. Primarily it harmonizes the electro-magnetic field that surrounds and penetrates the body. In turn, the muscles and organs relax, thoughts and emotions calm down, and healing is enhanced.

The Four Steps to Stop Recreating Childhood Suffering and Pain

12. February, 2013Anger, Blog Posts, Healing Articles, RelationshipsNo comments

Most of our chronic upsets, when stripped of the story, are the recreations of hurts and pain, unresolved from childhood. Sometimes we are aware but often don’t realize that the unhappy aspects of our lives today are a reenactment from the past. The good news is that we can put a stop to this kind of suffering.

What is occurring is that we are reenacting the places in our childhood where we longed for some expression of love that we never received. This doesn’t mean our parents didn’t love us. Though imperfect, most parents love their children. Rather, there was some reassurance of love that you wanted from them, again and again, and they didn’t come through. This failure on their part is not the end of the world and doesn’t consign you to a life of misery. (This is good news for parents and children everywhere.)

Consider this insight shared with me recently. A friend, Sarah, was mourning the loss of a beloved pet. She called her mother, cried, and shared her feelings. Her mother’s response: “Really, dear, you shouldn’t cry. So many people have far worse problems than this one.” In that moment Sarah remembered how her feelings had been repeatedly dismissed as a child. “I learned that my feelings didn’t count and I should always put on a happy face.”

New Year’s Resolution: Get A Ninja Mantra

31. December, 2012Blog Posts, Healing Articles, Relationships, UncategorizedNo comments

For his New Year’s Resolution, one friend is using affirmations to set and hold a positive frame of mind. He feels he has a negative mindset ingrained in his thinking since childhood and is committed to controlling his thoughts. He believes this is the way to accomplish his goals.

We were discussing this approach in contrast to Acceptance: not judging what happens as either good or bad. He questions whether Acceptance is simply resigning to what the universe dishes out and to our own worst habits.

Acceptance is the capacity to look at ‘what is happening’ as only ‘what is happening.’ In Acceptance we may be happy or not about what occurs but we are able to remain conscious of our experience without resisting, defending or denying.

The inability to accept what is happening is all about control. We think it is up to us to create and manage our lives. If we don’t like something we try to force something else to happen. This is why we make New Year’s Resolutions. However, affirmations and resolutions are often a rejection of reality and our selves.

Breathe Deeply & Move to the Rhythm of Life

20. March, 2012Healing Articles, MeditationNo comments

healing through relaxationOxygen is critical for life. Without oxygen you will not live for more than a few minutes. Yet most people use less than a third of their available lung capacity.

  • Your breath is the primary fuel delivery system to every cell of your body.
  • Deep breathing tones and massages every organ and muscle.
  • Deep breathing stimulates your immune system and is necessary to expel toxins.
  • Breathing assists in the stimulation of the biochemicals that enhance your mood and brain function, including your ability to learn, focus, and remember.

This circular-breathing pattern opens up the flow of your energy and super-oxygenates your body. Here is how you can harness the power of your breath for your well being:

  • As you inhale, let your lower belly expand.
  • Continue to inhale. Your abdomen will lift, and finally your chest.
  • When you can not take in more air, move smoothly from inhaling to exhaling, without pausing.
  • Allow your exhalation to occur on its own: a simple letting go. Don’t push your breath out or hold it back. As you exhale your chest will collapse first followed by the abdomen.
  • Without pausing, begin to inhale again.

Listening and Love

25. February, 2012Healing Articles, RelationshipsNo comments

This beautiful post from my friend Mike Lyding:

When we listen with kindness to another person, what is happening?  We can feel ourselves relaxing.  We don’t seem to want to interrupt them.  We aren’t trying to get them to see the light that we see so clearly.  We are simply letting them empty something from their system.  Our memories of our own issues will be triggered, but we don’t have to feel our pain again.  We stay relaxed.

The process is like a tuning fork.  The musician hears the note and adjusts their instrument to play that same note.  There is a big difference, however.  We do not adjust our instrument to play the same note.  We are finding the same note in us.

When we can listen this effectively we are not condemning them for the note they have played.  Nor are we trying to get them to play a different note.  This means we are not condemning ourselves for having played the same note.  We do not forget the note.  Indeed, the process brings the note from our depths to the surface of our skin.  We feel good, not icky.  Sympathy for them leads to self-honesty, to integrity and, amazingly, we can remain relaxed.

Mindfulness

Meditation: Sandra Egli
Music: Torey Ronhovde

The wisdom of a thousand generations guides you today. Only listen. Without a sound their voices reverberate in your cells. Settle within and choose your path.

All of us come from strength, fortitude, perseverance. No matter how difficult their lives, our ancestors made it through and passed on life for the next generation. Over and over, until it came to you. The intelligence that guided them has also come to you.

To Thine own Self be true.

If I could present you with a single blessing, it would be the gift of Mindfulness. Awareness of yourself: body, emotions, and self-talk, all the time. Our immediate experience is the ultimate exploration that only grows richer with time. What we do or don't do, and the roots of our behavior, are accessible with the simple practice of noticing immediate experience. It is this practice that makes it possible to know and be true to ourselves.
